These terms cover your use of Tradie Cert, an iPhone and iPad app for issuing Australian electrical and refrigeration compliance paperwork, provided by the Owner. Installing or using the app means you accept them. Tradie Cert is distributed through the Apple App Store, and Apple may enforce these terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
You receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Tradie Cert on Apple devices you own or control, for your own trade work. You may not resell, rent, sub-license or reverse engineer the app, and you may not unlock paid features by any route other than a purchase through Apple. The app, its code, its layout engine and its certificate templates remain the property of the Owner. The app requires iPhone or iPad running iOS 17 or later and is published for Australia.
Tradie Cert gives you a form for each supported document, captures a signature on screen, generates an A4 PDF and hands that PDF to the iOS mail composer or the share sheet so that you can send it yourself. The documents currently included are the Queensland Certificate of Testing and Compliance / Safety, the Western Australia Electrical Safety Certificate, the Tasmanian Record of Electrical Work, a smoke alarm compliance certificate for Queensland and Victorian properties, and the ARC quarterly refrigerant, cylinder and equipment record.
Tradie Cert is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or approved by any government body, regulator, network operator or industry authority, and the wording drawn from Australian legislation into the templates does not make it an official form.
You are the licensed tradesperson signing the document. You remain responsible for the testing you certify, for the accuracy of every entry, and for whether the certificate you issue satisfies the law that applies to that job in that state. The app does not lodge anything on your behalf: it submits nothing to any regulator, network operator or authority. Where a separate notification is required — a Notice of Completion through the network operator's eNotice system in Western Australia, or the notifiable-work copy to TechSafe in Tasmania, for example — you make it yourself. Tradie Cert only shows a reminder that it is due.
Tradie Cert is free to use, with every template, the signature pad, the PDF preview and sending available on the free tier, up to three issued certificates per calendar month. The count resets at the start of each calendar month, and re-sending or re-sharing a certificate you already issued never costs another slot. Tradie Cert Pro removes the limit and is sold in three forms:
All prices are in Australian dollars and are billed through your Apple ID. A subscription renews automatically unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and a free trial converts into a paid period unless you cancel before the trial ends. Manage or cancel in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions — not in the app, and not by deleting the app. Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's policy, through reportaproblem.apple.com; the Owner cannot issue them. If you reinstall or change device, use Business → Restore purchases with the same Apple ID.
Certificates, customers, signatures and your letterhead live in the app's storage on your device. There is no cloud sync and no backup held by us, so keeping an iOS device backup, and emailing yourself an office copy of each certificate, is your responsibility. If you delete the app, uninstall it without a backup or lose the device, those records are gone and the Owner cannot recover them.
Use Tradie Cert only for work you are licensed and qualified to certify. Do not use it to issue a certificate for testing you did not carry out, to sign in another person's name, or to produce a document that misrepresents the condition of an installation. Do not use it while driving or while any part of an installation is live and unsafe.
The app is provided "as is". It is a form and PDF tool: it does not test an installation, it does not check your entries against any standard, and a generated PDF is not evidence that the work is compliant. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Owner is not liable for any loss, penalty, rework or claim arising from a certificate produced with the app, from an entry that turned out to be wrong, from a lodgement you did not make, or from records lost with a device.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee or right that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable law. Where liability can be limited rather than excluded, it is limited to re-supplying the app or refunding the amount you paid for it.
You can end this agreement at any time by deleting the app; if you hold a subscription, cancel it through Apple first, because deleting the app does not cancel it. The Owner may end the licence if you materially breach these terms. Purchases already made stay subject to the App Store terms.
These terms may be updated. The version on this page, with the date shown at the top, is always the current one, and continued use after an update means you accept it.
These terms are governed by the law of the place where the Owner is based, without regard to conflict of laws principles, and the courts of that place have exclusive competence over any dispute connected to them. If you use the app as a consumer and the law of your country of residence gives you a higher standard of protection, that higher standard applies.
