Tradie Cert fills in the certificate, takes the customer's signature on the screen, makes the A4 PDF and hands it to your mail app. Below are the questions that come up most often. If yours is not answered here, email [email protected].
Five templates ship with the app: the Queensland Certificate of Testing and Compliance / Safety, the Western Australia Electrical Safety Certificate, the Tasmanian Record of Electrical Work, a smoke alarm compliance certificate for Queensland and Victorian properties, and the ARC quarterly refrigerant, cylinder and equipment record. Nothing is locked to a state: set where you work in Business details and your own templates sort to the top, with the rest under "Other states".
Those states have moved electrical certificates onto mandatory government or network operator portals, where the certificate is created and lodged in the portal itself. A PDF made on a phone would not be the document the scheme requires, so we do not pretend to offer one. Queensland, Western Australia and Tasmania are the states where the certificate is still the tradesperson's own document — and the smoke alarm certificate and the ARC record are usable anywhere in Australia.
Yes for the work itself. Filling in the form, signing, generating and previewing the PDF all happen on the device and need no connection, which matters in a switchboard room or under a house. Two things do need the network: your mail app has to be online to actually deliver the email (it will sit in the outbox until it is), and Pro status is confirmed over the internet, so a Pro device needs a connection occasionally, not on every job.
They are stored inside the app on your device, listed on the home screen by day, and searchable by address, customer, reference or template. The app has no cloud sync and we hold no copy, so your backup is the iOS device backup (iCloud or Finder) plus the office copy of every certificate, which is blind-copied to the address you set in Business → "Copy every certificate to". Deleting the app deletes the certificates with it unless you have a device backup to restore.
All of it lives on the Business screen. Tap Letterhead to edit the business name, address, contact details, ABN and your contractor and worker licence numbers, and to add a logo — these are printed on every certificate, so they are entered once. On the same screen you can save or redraw your technician signature, and switch "Auto-sign with my saved signature" on or off. Changes apply to certificates you create afterwards; a PDF already generated keeps the details it was made with.
No. The customer signature screen has a "Skip customer signature" option, so a job where nobody is home is not blocked. If the customer does sign, hand them the phone or iPad on the full-screen pad; Clear redraws and Done accepts. The signature is stored with that certificate on the device only.
Three certificates per calendar month are free, and the counter resets on the first of the next month. Drafts do not count — only certificates you actually generate — and re-sending or re-sharing a certificate you already issued is always free, so a customer who lost their copy never costs you a slot. On the fourth certificate of a month the Unlimited sheet appears; it can be closed, and everything you have already made stays available.
After reinstalling or on a new device, open Business → Restore purchases while signed in with the Apple ID that made the purchase. Subscriptions are cancelled through Apple, not in the app: open apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions or iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions, and cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends, or before the 7-day trial ends on the yearly plan. Refunds go through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. The lifetime unlock is a one-time purchase and has nothing to cancel.
No. Tradie Cert produces the certificate and emails it to your customer; it submits nothing to any regulator or network operator, and it is not affiliated with any of them. Where a separate step is required — the Notice of Completion through eNotice in Western Australia, or the notifiable-work copy to TechSafe in Tasmania — the send screen shows a one-line reminder, but you make that lodgement yourself.
Email [email protected] with your device model, your iOS version, which template you were using and what happened. If a certificate came out wrong, attaching the PDF helps a lot. We usually reply within a few business days.
