ChargeClaim Privacy Policy
ChargeClaim helps employees who charge a company electric car at home to claim the electricity back from their employer. You photograph your charger or meter display, the app reads the number, keeps every reading with its photo in a sealed log and prepares a monthly claim PDF. The short version: everything you record stays on your device, there is no account, and nothing is sent to us.
1. What stays on your device
Meter readings, photos, receipts, business trips, your tariff, your name, personnel number, employer details, car and charger details, your signature and the claim PDFs are stored only on your iPhone or iPad, in the app's own storage. They are included in your device backup like any app data. We have no server that receives them. Deleting the app removes them.
2. Camera, photos and text recognition
- Camera is used when you photograph a meter display or a receipt. The photo is saved in the app as evidence for your claim, with the time it was taken.
- Photo library access is used only when you choose a photo yourself.
- Reading the number happens on the device with Apple's Vision framework. Photos are not uploaded for recognition.
3. Sending a claim
When you send a claim, the app opens your own Mail app or the iOS share sheet with the PDF attached. The claim goes from your device to the recipient you choose; we are not involved and receive no copy.
4. Optional connections
Only if you set them up, the app contacts these services directly from your device:
- Octopus Energy (api.octopus.energy): to import your tariff prices. The app sends the tariff code and, if you use the finder, your postcode to look up your region. No account or login is used.
- go-e: the app reads your charger's energy counter, either from go-e's cloud with the API key you enter, or directly from the charger on your home Wi-Fi.
- Tesla Wall Connector: the app reads the lifetime energy counter directly from the Wall Connector on your home Wi-Fi. Nothing goes over the internet.
- Zaptec (api.zaptec.com): the app signs in with the Zaptec login you enter and downloads the charging sessions of the charger you pick.
Logins and API keys are kept in the iOS Keychain on this device and are sent only to the service they belong to. The answers are stored with your readings as evidence. Each service's own privacy policy applies to these requests.
5. Notifications
If you allow notifications, the app schedules local reminders on your device: on the last day and the first day of each month to photograph your meter, and once before a free trial ends. No push server is involved.
6. Purchases and RevenueCat
ChargeClaim Pro is sold through Apple In-App Purchase. Apple handles the payment; we never see your payment details. To confirm what you have bought, the app uses the RevenueCat SDK. RevenueCat receives an anonymous identifier created by the app, together with App Store transaction data. If you arrived from an Apple Search Ads campaign, Apple's attribution token (AdServices) is also passed to RevenueCat so we can see which campaign led to a purchase; this does not track you across other companies' apps and does not identify you. RevenueCat gives us aggregated purchase statistics. None of this includes your readings, photos, claims or employer. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
7. No analytics, no ads, no tracking
ChargeClaim contains no analytics SDK, no advertising and no third-party trackers. We do not build a profile of you and we do not sell or share data. We do not contact your employer.
8. Your rights and contact
Because your data stays on your device, you control it fully: you can export all evidence from the app at any time, and deleting the app deletes it. We hold no account or claim data, so there is nothing on our side to look up, export or delete. ChargeClaim is made for working adults and is not directed at children. If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date. Questions: [email protected].
